Morning Jam is an open space where dance artists meet, collect and play with "choreography". It is a public event where everyone is welcome to get involved in the making of dance. It is not a class, but a time set aside to generate any kind of material. As a group we explore new ways of building/phrasing movement and thinking outside the box. The skills we develop in Morning Jam directly relate to the current dance industry-where most work involves collaborative process and non-tradition company settings. We critique each other as well as give time to showcase any of the group's work in progress outside the jam. We offer suggestions and ways to improve on every demonstration.
The event runs Thursdays from 10:00-11:30am at 45 West. (45 West Hastings, in the alley behind Save on Meats / Army and Navy). We generally meet at the Nester's Market in the Woodward's complex (Westside of Abbott Street) and walk to the studio together.
